Jeff and Emily met at the University of Findlay during their freshman year. Jeff was a transfer student from OU, and walked into a biology lab where he sat next to Emily. They were lab partners for all of one class before he had to switch to a different class. Fate would have it that his next lab partner in the new class was Hannah, Emily's friend from her hometown. One day Emily and Hannah saw Jeff in the dining hall sitting alone, and knowing he was new to UF, decided to invite him to lunch the next time Hannah had lab with him. The girls forcefully adopted Jeff into their friend group and the rest was history. Jeff decided to transfer back to OU the next semester, but stayed in touch with Emily throughout college. After graduation, they would visit each other fairly often over the years (Jeff was in Columbus, Emily in Cleveland). Their mutual love of Ohio sports, trying new restaurants, and skiing brought great fun and memories. After over a decade of friendship, they found themselves both single, and realized that their friendship could be something more and would be worth the risk of changing everything. Emily had moved to the Columbus area, and they decided to try going on a date. It obviously went well, and the relationship blossomed from there. The relationship progressed fast since they got to skip the awkward "getting to know you phase" and a wonderful year was spent together. While celebrating their anniversary in August 2025, Jeff proposed to Emily and it was the easiest question she ever said yes to. Now they live together on a few acres in the middle of nowhere, spending weekends renovating their house, traveling to new places/restaurants, and their evenings with their cat Kevin.
