It was a late, cold night in January 2016 when Jasmyn got a notification on her iPod (not her smart phone, because we all know Jasmyn). Alas, after many a lonely night, a Tinder match! She reviewed the profile of the woman she had swiped right on many months before. A teacher, a learner, a coffee lover, a country music fan, and "politically involved". It was love at first swipe. Little did Emily know, when she had swiped right long after Jasmyn had, that the dog she so loved in Jasmyn's profile picture wasn't even Jasmyn's. What a beginning it was. After a first date of Mexican food and Starbucks and a Valentine's Day weekend filled with Homecoming basketball games and snow, Jasmyn devised a plan. The weekend of February 19th, 2016, Jasmyn invited Emily to Charlotte to hang out with her. She picked up cannolis from a local Italian place and took Emily to the gazebo on campus at Queens University of Charlotte, where Jasmyn attended. Legend has it that a couple who shares a kiss in the gazebo will surely get married. A few kisses and one "yes" later, Emily and Jasmyn were official. Fast forward to another wintery weekend in December, 2018. Jasmyn took Emily up to a favorite North Carolina town, Boone. With the ring burning a hole in her pocket, Jasmyn finally got down on one knee and asked Emily to be her wife. When they returned to Charlotte the next day, Emily asked Jasmyn to get something from her dresser drawer. There sat the ring that Emily had bought months before. Emily and Jasmyn are so excited to spend the rest of their lives together and are incredibly grateful and thankful for the love and support they have felt from family, friends, and loved ones that are going to celebrate their special day with them. Let the party begin!
