La Jolla, California, is famous for its large, easily viewable population of California sea lions at spots like La Jolla Cove and Point La Jolla, where they rest, socialize, and pup, especially May-October, but visitors must maintain a safe distance (50+ feet) to protect these wild animals from disturbance, particularly during pupping season when they're vulnerable. You can spot them year-round on the rocks and in sea caves, often best in the morning or late afternoon.
Our favorite beach. It feels like you're in another country! But, be careful. The wake is huge here sometimes! :)
We would love for our guests to learn about La Jolla and the amazing sea life it supports directly from the ocean during a kayak tour. La Jolla's sea life significance lies in its rich biodiversity, protected marine habitats (MPAs), crucial pupping grounds for seals and sea lions, and its role as a living laboratory for oceanographic research, making it vital for conservation, education, and scientific understanding of coastal ecosystems. Its kelp forests, rocky reefs, and deep canyons support species like leopard sharks, garibaldi, seals, and sea lions, allowing unique wildlife viewing and research.
We have taken a surf lesson and it was by far one of our favorite memories here. Highly recommend!
Torrey Pines State Beach is a stunning, wide, sandy beach in San Diego, California, known for its picturesque backdrop of 300-foot sandstone cliffs and the adjacent Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. It is a popular spot for swimming, surfing, fishing, and enjoying the natural coastal beauty.
Where we got engaged! This park never gets old. Highly recommend walking the cliffs, watching the surfers, and eating a fresh Poke bowl in Ocean Beach.
