In addition to your essentials, we recommend bringing sunscreen, SPF lip balm, a hat, sunglasses, bug spray, hiking shoes (optional), hiking socks (optional), a rain jacket (as a precaution), a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and a swimsuit.
Last year, the weather in Utah during May had highs in the 80s and lows in the 40s. We recommend bringing a mix of warm and cold weather clothes, and don't forget your swimsuit!
There is plenty to do in and around Zion, regardless of your activity level. Some options include hiking, taking scenic drives, riding the trolley through the park, horseback riding, stargazing, watching the sunset or sunrise, enjoying live music at the amphitheater, riding ATVs, shopping in Springdale, and more! We are planning to visit Bryce Canyon on Saturday, and everyone is welcome to join us!
We have chosen the Temple of Sinawava as the location for our ceremony. The Temple of Sinawava is located at shuttle stop #9, which is at the end of the canyon. Upon entering the park, we will need to walk from the parking lot to the first shuttle stop. From there, we will take an approximately 40-minute ride to the ceremony site. Once we arrive, there will be minimal walking required to reach the ceremony location. After the ceremony, we can either walk around or take the shuttle to additional spots for photo opportunities. Apart from the ceremony, all other hiking or outdoor activities are optional!
When traveling, it's important to consider the different time zones of the locations you're visiting or traveling through. Indianapolis, IN is in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone, Las Vegas, NV is in the Pacific Standard Time (PST) zone, and La Verkin, UT is in the Mountain Standard Time (MST) zone. For instance, if it is 5 PM in Indianapolis, it will be 2 PM in Las Vegas and 3 PM in La Verkin.
The NPS offers a 7-day, $35 pass to Zion for one car (everyone in the car gets in with one pass). We planned to purchase these for our guests. If you want a traditional one-year National Park pass, it costs $80 per vehicle, which allows entry into any National Park for one year. This is not a necessary purchase for this trip; it is only worthwhile if you are interested in visiting more parks throughout the next year.
Due to the high demand for hair and makeup services, we can offer hair styling to everyone, but makeup services will only be available for the bride. If needed, we have two options for makeup: we can hire a separate makeup artist for everyone, or you may choose to do your own makeup or assist each other. In summary, hair styling services will be provided for anyone interested, but makeup services are reserved for the bride only. In the meantime, please gather photos of your desired hair and makeup styles!
