“I have found the one my heart loves” ~ S.S. 3:4

James and Emily met at Blackbird, a coffee shop in Spearfish. It was a setup by their mothers :). James and Emily sat outside and began a journey of getting to know each other that they could have never imagined that day. The first impressions must have been good enough to warrant a second dinner date at Red Water. Through many coffee dates, walks, and movie nights, we became, what we call, besties. After January 13th, 2024, we get to be besties for the resties.

After having Father’s Day lunch at James’ parent's house, James and Emily went on a 4-wheeler ride. They got to a point with a beautiful view and Emily noticed and commented on some cacti with yellow blooming flowers. James took the opportunity to ask Emily to marry him. They shared the news with James' parents. They then went to Emily’s house to tell her parents and grandparents the news. Paul, James’ father ironically made the comment during lunch that ‘things were taking too long’ (referring to his children getting married).
