Our Maui Favorites

The Wedding Website of Emily Jennings and Felix Elswick
Planning your Maui adventure? We’ve done some of the research for you! Here are some of our favorite spots to eat, explore, relax, and soak up everything this beautiful island has to offer.
Makena Beach

Makena Beach

6600 Makena Alanui, Kihei, HI 96753
Po‘olenalena Beach

Po‘olenalena Beach

Wailea-Makena, HI 96753
Hana Highway

Hana Highway

Hana Highway, HI

One of our favorite Maui traditions is driving the famous Road to Hana every time we visit the island. This unforgettable journey winds along Maui’s stunning coastline, taking you past countless waterfalls, lush rainforests, dramatic ocean views, and hidden beaches. Many of the waterfalls are easily accessible right from the roadside, making it easy to stop and explore along the way. Be sure to pick up some fresh local fruit from one of the roadside stands and don't miss the famous banana bread, it's a must! A quick note: the Road to Hana is a long, winding drive with hundreds of curves and narrow sections. While the scenery is absolutely worth it, those prone to motion sickness may want to come prepared or consider joining a guided tour. Take your time, enjoy the journey, and remember, the adventure is all about the stops along the way.

Haleakalā Summit

Haleakalā Summit

Kula, HI 96790

Watching the sunrise or sunset from Haleakalā Summit is one of the most breathtaking experiences Maui has to offer. Rising over 10,000 feet above sea level, you'll find yourself above the clouds, surrounded by otherworldly volcanic landscapes and panoramic views that seem to stretch forever. If you're hoping to catch the sunrise, be sure to book your reservation well in advance, as permits are limited and can be difficult to secure. Sunset does not require a reservation and is equally spectacular. A friendly warning: despite being in Hawaii, temperatures at the summit can be surprisingly cold, often dropping into the 40s°F or lower with strong winds. Be sure to bring warm layers, long pants, and a jacket so you can comfortably enjoy the view. Trust us—whether you choose sunrise or sunset, this is a Maui experience you'll never forget.

Maui Dragon Fruit Farm

833 Punakea Loop, Lahaina, HI 96761

If you're looking for a true taste of Maui, a visit to the Maui Fruit Farm is a fun and unique experience. We highly recommend booking a fruit tasting, where you'll get to sample a variety of tropical fruits that are often difficult to find on the mainland. From sweet pineapples and mangoes to exotic local varieties, it's a delicious way to experience the island's agricultural side. For something a little different, consider the tea tasting experience, or better yet, do both! You'll learn about Maui-grown ingredients while enjoying beautiful scenery and a relaxing atmosphere. It's a great activity for couples, families, or anyone looking for a break from the beach while still enjoying everything that makes Maui special.

South Maui Gardens

South Maui Gardens

35 Auhana Road, Kihei, HI 96753

A local favorite and one of Maui’s hidden gems! South Maui Gardens combines beautiful tropical gardens with a fantastic lineup of food trucks, making it the perfect place to wander, grab a bite, and enjoy a laid-back Maui afternoon. Don't be surprised if you end up staying longer than planned!

Paia Fish Market

Paia Fish Market

1913 South Kihei Road, Kihei, HI 96753

A Maui classic and one of our favorite places to grab a casual meal on the island. Don't let the simple, laid-back atmosphere fool you, the food is incredible. Known for its fresh local fish, generous portions, and island-style flavors, it's a spot we find ourselves returning to every trip. Whether you choose the fish tacos, fish and chips, or one of their famous fresh fish plates, it's hard to go wrong. Expect a line during busy hours, but trust us, it's worth the wait. This is the perfect place to enjoy some of the freshest seafood Maui has to offer.

Early Bird Coffee

Early Bird Coffee

1455 S Kihei Rd, Kihei, 96753

One of our absolute favorite coffee stops in Maui! If you're only going to order one thing, make it the Ube Vietnamese Coffee, it is so good that we crave it long after we've returned home. The combination of rich Vietnamese coffee and sweet, creamy ube is unforgettable. Not a coffee drinker? Their Matcha Latte is equally delicious and one of our favorite ways to start a Maui morning. Whether you're fueling up before a beach day or just looking for a cozy spot to relax, Early Bird is a must-visit during your stay.
