Julia Blank
Maid of Honor
Julia and Emily met freshman year of college and became roommates shortly thereafter. Together they spread KU pride by working as orientation assistants, waking up at the crack of dawn to deal with helicopter parents and eager high schoolers. After graduation, Julia first worked in Kansas City before moving to Denver with her boyfriend, Briceson, and adorable dog, Bean. She currently works as an estimator for a construction firm. Julia is Emily's Maid of Honor.
Martha Engvall
Matron of Honor
Martha, Emily's sister, is the Matron of Honor. Like most little sisters, Emily grew up following Martha around and trying to hang out with all of her friends. While that's not quite the case today, the sisters remain close. Martha lives in New Haven, CT with her husband Nathaniel, and is pursuing her Doctorate in Spanish at Yale. When she's not reading 200 books for her dissertation, you can find her knitting, weaving, sewing, and just generally crafting the most amazing creations.
Keelin Klein
Bridesmaid
Keelin and Emily met at grad school in a year-long intensive master's program. Despite a not-so-great cohort, and a global pandemic forcing remote learning midway through, they became close friends supporting each other through stressful times. Keelin also lives in Denver, CO with her husband Max, two dogs (Gunner & Lucy), and two cats (Yara & Gilly), and is expecting a baby boy in November. Keelin is one of Emily's bridesmaids.
Katie Bernard
Bridesmaid
Katie and Emily met as sophomores at KU united by a mutual interest in non-profits, people, and politics. Katie spent so much time at Emily's apartment that she became an honorary roommate and they have since kept in touch despite living in different states. Katie now lives in KC with her cat Ginny and is the Kansas Statehouse reporter for the Kansas City Star. Katie is one of Emily's bridesmaids.
Tim Aspleaf
Co-Best Man
As two political science students at KU, Tim and Eric met while interviewing for an internship on a local political campaign. Over one summer in college, the two knocked on doors and drove around campaign signs for a terrible politician who ended up losing badly. After graduation, Tim became a licensed professional counselor based out of Salt Lake City where he lives with his fiancée, Chloe who is a pharmacist in residency at the University of Utah. Tim is Eric's co-best man alongside Scott Diffin.
Scott Diffin
Co-Best Man
Scott and Eric met in 7th grade, shortly after the Syverson family moved to Andover, KS. The two would become steadfast friends despite going to different high schools. Scott and Eric both attended KU and lived together every single year of college. Upon graduation, the pair backpacked across Europe in the summer of 2017. Scott currently lives in Kansas City, KS with his girlfriend Lauren, and the pair work in political activism at the federal and state levels. Scott is Eric's co-best man in addition to Tim Aspleaf.
Evan Uhlig
Groomsman
Evan and Eric met playing baseball in middle school, which is odd if you know Evan. Through high school and college, the pair spent countless hours together developing very niche senses of humor. After living in California for four years working as a mechanical engineer, Evan recently moved back home to Wichita Kansas to pursue a career in software engineering. Evan is Eric’s groomsman.
Talon Low

Since 2008, Talon and Eric have shared a bond over many things, primarily a love of history and fast hatchback cars. Typically you’ll find the pair in deep conversation enthralled over a sci fi/fantasy show or game. After high school, Talon moved to Olympia, WA to pursue a career in welding, and was joined shortly thereafter by his girlfriend Morgan and friend Alec. The three still live in the PNW with their cat Pippin and dog Sundae. Talon is Eric’s groomsman.
Griffin Syverson
Groomsman
Griffin has had the distinct pleasure of knowing Eric ever since he was born. The pair were like Batman and Robin growing up, building snowforts and bike jumps together. Alongside their cousins, the two became snowboarders, which has helped Griffin become an excellent surfer. Griffin now lives in Jacksonville, FL where he spends time with his girlfriend, Jordan, and works at a digital advertisement agency. Griffin is Eric’s groomsman.
