Like his father before him, Elijah met the love of his life at Sufficient Grounds (SG) at Bethel University. Although the start of their meeting might not have gone as smoothly as most people, it's a story that they look back on and laugh every time. Their boss, Denise, called a COVID-19 cleaning policy meeting before the semester started to make sure everyone understood the new world they were living in. At the end of the meeting, Denise informed students that the schedule was in front of Emily, and if they needed to make a schedule change go to her. Not knowing she was a scaredy cat, Elijah approached her from behind and asked for the schedule, scaring her so hard she fell out of her chair (smooth Emily, smooth). Then, one day, Elijah was contact traced back to someone who tested positive. Emily found this out before she finished her shift at SG, and decided to drop off his favorite drink at the house before being trapped in quarantine for the next two weeks. She didn't know that for the next two weeks he was in quarantine, they would talk through his window every night. Immediately enamored with each other's enticing conversation, they couldn’t stay away from each other. 2 and half years later, on a castle-filled trip to Germany, Elijah got down on one knee on the slopes of the Swiss Alps and asked Emily to be his forever. Obviously, she said yes.
