Can you imagine the anxiety of creating an online dating profile and then having to actually chat with strangers, trying to find "the one?" On June 1st, 2021, Emily and Dustin both swiped right on each other's profiles, not 100% sure what to expect. Per the rules of the Bumble app, Emily had to initiate the first message, and she did, commenting on Dustin's corny profile sentence about him almost being to the age of a dad who wears "grass stained sketchers." From that point on, the messaging was non-stop until they could finally meet for their first date. Dustin had a wonderful idea to get Cuban food in Concord, and of course, the restaurant was closed on Sunday's (funny story - it was closed over a year later when they tried to go again, but is now a favorite spot for their whole family!). They settled on Cabarrus Brewery, where they met in the parking lot before sitting together inside for so long that the Brewery closed for the night! They tried to go to a nearby Mexican restaurant, which was closed (of course!). Eventually, they found another Mexican restaurant, and continued the conversation. By this point they had already decided they weren't spending anymore time swiping right because there couldn't possibly be anyone better! Flash forward just over 4 years, Dustin sets up brunch at Cabarrus Brewery with Emily and their four kids, only to drop to one knee in the parking lot, proposing in the spot he and Emily first met on their very first date! <3
