Frequently asked questions:
Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

There are two hotel blocks within close proximity to the ceremony and reception. Please visit our Accommodations page for details and booking links. There are also many Air Bnbs and VRBOs available in the area that may be more accommodating for families.

Question

What is the attire for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception?

Answer

Please join us in dressing up for the celebration! The dress code for our wedding is formal attire. For men, we suggest a dark colored suit and tie. For women, we suggest a floor length gown, knee-length cocktail dress, or pantsuit. None of our events will be held outdoors in the January chill, but be prepared with a coat as the South Bend winter is quite cold!

Question

Is transportation being provided?

Answer

Parking will be available at the ceremony, and there will be enough time for you to drive back to your hotel before cocktail hour begins. If you are staying at the Double Tree, we will be providing a shuttle to the reception venue and back to the hotel later that night. The shuttle is small, so we will be providing several trips to and from the venue. We'll be asking if you're interested in this service when you RSVP so we can schedule enough trips for all those who are interested. If you are staying at the Embassy Suites or any other location, we will not be providing transportation. However, Ubers and Lyfts are widely available in the area. It is extremely important to us that our loved ones stay safe while celebrating with us. If you think that you'll be indulging in our open bar at the reception, please utilize the provided transportation or plan to get a Lyft/Uber home. Thank you!!

Question

Where can I park at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will be taking place on Notre Dame's campus at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. To access parking, please enter campus via Notre Dame Avenue. Parking will be available at the Grotto Lot and St. Liam's lot. Overflow parking is available along St Mary's road. If you are young and able-bodied, or familiar with Notre Dame's campus, we ask that you park a bit farther away in St. Liam's lot to save closer parking for guests who have difficulty walking farther. Please refer to the map provided to see parking locations.

Question

What time should I arrive at your wedding ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart promptly at 3:00 PM. The doors are open to our guests beginning at 2:30. We recommend that guests arrive to Notre Dame's campus no later than 2:40 so that you can find your parking, walk to the basilica, and find your seats before the procession begins. If guests arrive late, you will not be permitted to enter the basilica so as not to disrupt the service. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Am I allowed to take pictures at your ceremony?

Answer

We have hired a talented professional photographer to capture this sacred event of our wedding day. We ask that you please have your phones off and put away during our ceremony. I promise to share the professional photos taken during this time once I receive them! After the ceremony is over, we encourage you to take as many pictures and videos as you can to help us remember our soecial day!

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

While we absolutely adore the little ones in our lives, the only children invited to our wedding are those of the bridal party and immediate family. If you're wondering if your children were invited, please refer to your invitation where your children's names would have been included if so. Thank you for your understanding!

Question

Is parking allowed overnight at the reception venue?

Answer

The Armory allows guests to leave their cars parked overnight at the venue, however they do not recommend it. It is extremely important to us that our loved ones stay safe while celebrating with us. If you think that you'll be indulging in our open bar at the reception, please utilize the provided transportation to and from the Double Tree hotel or plan to get a Lyft/Uber home. Thank you!!

Question

Is there anything I should know about attending a Catholic wedding ceremony?

Answer

The sacrament of holy matrimony is sacred in the Catholic Church, and we are so happy that you can join us as witnesses during the ceremony. While some Catholic weddings consist of a full mass, we have chosen to have a shortened version for our ceremony. Eucharist will not be administered.
