Things To Do

We have included below some food and activity recommendations for Horsham, Chestnut Hill, and elsewhere in the city for those of you who want to venture outside of the room block areas!

*Horsham/Willow Grove Area Recommendations*

Kilwins Ice Cream - Chocolate - Fudge

1115 Market Street, Dresher, PA 19025

Growing up, Collier spent many summers in Boyne City, Michigan, where his favorite ice cream and chocolate shop was Kilwin's, founded in nearby Petoskey in 1947 (now a national chain). He highly recommends trying their Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream!

Ooka

1109 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090

Solid Japanese food! They also offer Hibachi.

Lancers Diner

858 Easton Road, Horsham, PA 19044

Very good diner food!

Vintage Bar And Grill

1116 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001

Very underrated; great bar food!

El Limon Hatboro

222 North York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040

Low key Philadelphia area Mexican chain that punches above its weight class!

*Chestnut Hill Area Recommendations*

Cake

8501 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

One of Emily's favorite brunch spots! Feels like you're eating in a greenhouse.

Bredenbeck's Bakery

8126 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

This is where our wedding cake is from, but they also have delicious ice cream and baked goods (highly recommend the eclairs and cannolis)!

Market at the Fareway

8221 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

Feels like a mini version of Reading Terminal Market! Also has a great outdoor space and is right next to the Chestnut Hill Hotel.

Chestnut Hill Brewing Company

8221 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

Really cute taproom with great food! Also located right next to the Chestnut Hill Hotel.

Morris Arboretum & Gardens of the University of Pennsylvania

100 East Northwestern Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

A great place to walk around during the day; highly recommend the Tree Adventure exhibit, where you can lay in a huge hammock-like net high above the ground. This is a great choice for family members bringing their children.

Wissahickon Valley Park

Valley Green Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128

We went here on our third date! Great place to go if you are looking for a casual hiking spot.

Bird In Hand Consignment Shop

9 West Highland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

This is just one example of many local small businesses if you want to do some shopping!

*Downtown Philadelphia Recommendations*

Liberty Bell/Independence Hall

526 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106

The place where the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, and where Nicholas Cage found the bifocals that reveal the invisible message on the back of the Declaration.

Spruce Street Harbor Park

301 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19106

A fun riverside park featuring colorful hammocks, floating gardens, local craft beers, and delicious food from some of Philadelphia’s most popular restaurants.

Museums

Philly has some of the best museums around. Here are our favorites,

Philadelphia Museum of Art, Mütter Museum, Barnes Foundation, Penn Museum, Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

Rittenhouse Square Park

1800 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Where we first met and where we got engaged. Needless to say, our favorite place in Philly!

Reading Terminal Market

1136 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107

Famous indoor farmer's market in operation since 1893. Great for meals or walking around if the weather is not great!

*Cheesesteaks*

Finally, the section you've been craving. Collier's curated list of the best places to get cheesesteaks in Philly, in no particular order. Skip Pat's and Geno's, they simply aren't worth your time!

Angelo's Pizzeria

736 S 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147

Don't let the name fool you, many consider Angelo's to have Philly's best cheesesteak and you'll definitely see why.

Sonny's Famous Steaks

228 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106

If you're looking for a cheesesteak with cheese whiz, this is the spot. Though Collier prefers sharp provolone, he always orders whiz here. Conveniently located near Independence Hall.

Dalessandro's Steaks and Hoagies

600 Wendover Street, Philadelphia, PA 19128

Collier's favorite classic cheesesteak shop. Be sure to order your steak with their sharp provolone!

Barry's Steaks

6216 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128

Collier's favorite cheesesteak, hands down, is Barry's Italian American Blend. If you're a seasoned cheesesteak veteran, Barry's specialty cheesesteaks are a must!

John's Roast Pork

14 E Snyder Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148

Located in South Philly, John's may be out of the way from the festivities and room blocks, but it's an incredibly good cheesesteak shop that deserves a spot on this list. If you make the trek, you wont regret it!
