We met back in high school on a church youth trip. CJ says he noticed me first, and remembers every detail of the moment he first saw me. I, on the other hand, didn’t know that he had even paid me any attention. Eventually, we were introduced by my matron of honor. We became best friends, and as we grew closer and closer, I knew he was different. We took a church ski trip that same year, and he stopped and stayed with me as I tumbled down the mountain each and every time. He sacrificed his fun to stay with me. Later that night, he kissed me on the ski lift (and we got in trouble for it), but that began our relationship. We had the best times, but eventually split due to our own stupidity. During our time apart, we learned many lessons, and grew up A LOT. Most importantly, we learned how to cherish each other, and that the whole 9 years we were apart, we thought about each other the whole time. We reconnected on my birthday in 2018 when he sent me message. From that first day we hung out, we knew we’d spend forever together. May 31st, 2019, he proposed, and May 31st, 2020 we say yes to forever.

I’m a huge Disney fan, with Beauty and the Beast being my favorite movie. After making my dreams come true and taking me to Disneyland for the first time in April of 2019, we went on a Disney World trip that following May with both of our families. After enjoying a few days at Disney, he told me to dress up nice, because we had reserved dinner at the Be Our Guest Restaurant (the Beauty and the Beast restaurant). He said he wanted to make it a special date night, since it was a super fancy restaurant and I had never eaten there before. When we got there, it took us a while to get seated. We found out later it was because there was another Emily Frey that had booked at the exact same time, that got our seats in the ballroom, and even got our special dessert! We ended up sitting in the garden room, which is Belle’s favorite room. After I took FOREVER enjoying my food while he sat nervously watching me, our server brought out a special dessert, and on the plate it said, “Will you marry me?” as I looked up, I saw both our families filing in, and I was so surprised that I didn’t even notice him down on one knee. It took him forever to start talking, but once he did we both started crying, and I didn’t say “yes” I said, “of course!” The whole restaurant cheered and clapped for us, and we got two glasses of champagne to celebrate! It really was the most magical night.
