It all began at a Halloween party at a mutual friend’s apartment at Slippery Rock University. Chase was friends with one of Emily’s roommates, so naturally, he asked about her. Word quickly got back to Emily, and the very next night, they "ran into each other again" at another Halloween party. When Chase found out Emily was from Cleveland and a die-hard Browns fan, he couldn’t resist bringing up his own loyalty to the Steelers. With a Browns vs. Steelers game just days away, the rivalry turned into a friendly wager: the loser had to take the winner out to dinner (though let’s be honest, Chase was planning to pay either way). The Browns lost, and just a few days later, their first date officially kicked off their love story. What they didn’t realize then was that this little rivalry would stick, and today, it’s one of their favorite traditions to go to a Browns vs. Steelers game every year. From college days together, to Chase graduating and starting his first job, to Emily spending a semester abroad and graduating and starting her first job, to countless trips back and forth between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, their relationship grew stronger with every season. They built a love filled with laughter, quality time, and countless memories. Fast forward to December 2024, when Chase asked Emily the question that changed everything. The spot he chose was right outside the first place they ever lived together, simple, meaningful, and unforgettable. Emily said yes, and the next chapter of their story began.
