Local Pubs
Here's a list of some local pubs in and around the area (for the Americans, all pubs also serve food - if you're planning to have a sit down dinner, we recommend making a reservation) - The Grantley Arms: This is very close to Barnett Hill, so for those staying at the hotel, this is a good local spot that's worth a visit. - Hilltop Kitchen: This is a small restaurant that you have to either drive (or walk) through the woods to get to. It's on top of a hill (as it's name infers) and you'll have great views. Lots of rolling hills, fields, and greenery around you. Additional pubs to add to the list (not as stand out as the ones above in my opinion): - Stag on the River - Red Lion (Shamley Green) - The Star Inn - The Duke of Cumberland
Local Walks
Godalming is nestled in the English countryside, and there are some beautiful walks that you can take. Here are a few of our favorites: - Winkworth Arboritum (this is where we got engaged. Rolling hills, expansive fields, activities for kids, and a parking lot on site. Also down the lane from The Cappell's family home) - St Catherine's Hill - St. Martha's Hill - Devil's Punch Bowl
Shere
Shere is a charming little town about a 20 minute drive from Godalming. Lots of cute shops, pubs, and restaurants. A number of movies (including The Holiday) were filmed here due to its quaintness! We recommend checking out The White Horse pub.
Windsor Castle
Beautiful castle with a busy surrounding high street. Lots of great restaurants and pubs nearby; definitely an area worth a visit!
Hampton Court Palace

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
250-year-old Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew is a gorgeous, 330-acre landscape on Surrey’s doorsteps
Guildford High Street
Guildford is town right next to Godalming, and definitely worth a visit for those traveling in. It's charming cobble-stone High Street which is worth a visit. Guildford Castle and Guildford cathedral are local attractions. There are so many restaurants and cafes, here are some we recommend: - The Ivy: elevated spot for cocktails and dinner -Bills: Local cafe / good breakfast & brunch spot, attached to The Angel hotel. - Thai Terrace: rooftop spot with elevated thai food
London
There is a train that will take you directly from Godalming (or Guildford) straight into Waterloo Station in Central London. There is SO much to do and explore in London. Here is a one-sheet that we've started with some of our recommendations. There are just too many restaurants and bars to include, but hopefully this shortlist of areas can give you a head start.
