After talking online we decided to meet up at Mozart's Coffee Roasters on May 8th, 2017. We would have met up sooner, but like any good Texan knows, you can not celebrate Cinco de Mayo (a little too hard). We instantly connected over our love of caffeinated drinks and decided to spend the next day together as well. We got extremely burnt paddle boarding all day on Lake Austin. Carolyn was pushed into the lake, and pity tacos were provided shortly after at Guero's Taco Bar by Emily. Once we realized we both also loved tacos and margaritas, well we had to extend the day. The evening ended with some music at Moontower. Like any other Austin love story, it was history after that. We are both pretty cool people (Austinites), so it's no wonder really. We love this city, and like our love, we continue to fall more and more as time goes on. Just like queso and good tequila, we go well together.
Emily decided to be extra sneaky and disguise my going away party as a proposal. She called my parents to ask permission and then set up a time to face time them, so they would be able to bear witness. She asked me to pick out her outfit. We were going to a brewery, so I suggested her bright colored toucan shorts as the only logical, viable option I could see! We got to Meanwhile Brewery, and slowly people started to come by. I still had no idea when family members, or my friend from Denver, CO, just happened to be there. Again, I'm not the most observant person. My friend Deanna was face-timing my mother and I almost backed into Emily on one knee. I soon realized what was happening. Emily was shaking so badly, the only words she could muster were, "Will you?" I'm still reminding her that she wore toucan shorts to our engagement party, and her only response is, "Well you picked them out." That's love folks!
