Things To Do

Hammond is about an hour from New Orleans and about 35 minutes from Covington and Mandeville. If you're looking for some fun during your time in Louisiana, check out our suggestions below!

Our Mom's Restaurant and Bar

205 East Thomas Street, Hammond, LA 70403
, (985) 662-5038

This has been one of our favorite places to go, even in big groups of friends before we were dating. Excellent burgers!

Yellow Bird Cafe

222 East Charles Street, Hammond, LA 70401
, (985) 345-1112

We went here on our first date (that Emily didn't actually know was a date). They're only open for breakfast and lunch, but it doesn't disappoint!

Lakefront

2230-2260 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70122

This is where Caleb proposed. There's a nice view of Lake Pontchartrain and a walking path lined with streetlights and benches. If you have time to kill or just want to sit and hang out, it's a great place for that!

Mandeville Lakefront

2623 Lakeshore Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448
, (985) 626-3144

This is the North side of Lake Pontchartrain, another favorite spot of ours. Similarly to the New Orleans Lakefront, there are plenty of places to sit along a nice walking path. It's a great place to watch the sun set.

Drago's Metairie

3232 North Arnoult Road, Metairie, LA 70002
, (504) 888-9254

This is the restaurant we went to after Caleb proposed. Its an upscale seafood place with some to-die-for oysters!

Pho Grace

2728 West Thomas Street, Hammond, LA 70401
, (985) 662-3937

One of our favorites. Great pho!

Cate Street Seafood Station

308 South Cate Street, Hammond, LA 70403
, (985) 340-3891

Don't let the name mislead you -- there's something for everyone at this place! Closed on Sundays.

Cafe Du Monde

800 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 525-4544

Cafe du Monde is a classic place to stop if you've never been to New Orleans. Grab a cup of coffee with some beignets and check out Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral, just a block away! If you're not wanting to brave the New Orleans French Quarter but still want to try the cafe au lait and beignets, there are other locations of Cafe Du Monde in Metairie, Covington, and Mandeville.

Bistro Byronz

1901 U.S. 190, Mandeville, LA 70448
, (985) 951-7595

If you find yourself hungry while visiting the Mandeville Lakefront, this restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious Louisiana cuisine.

PJ's Coffee of New Orleans

224 West Thomas Street, Hammond, LA 70401
, (985) 345-1533

Enjoy a cup of signature Pj's coffee in historic downtown Hammond. There's no drive-thru at this location (two other locations available in Hammond), but you may enjoy drinking a cup of coffee on a short walk to Cate Square Park (1 block north). This was one of Emily's favorite places to sit and study during her college days!

Commodore's Pizza

2008 Demarco Boulevard, Hammond, LA 70403
, (985) 345-9726

Our preferred pizza place. Plenty of signature pizzas to choose from, or you can build your own!

University Donuts

1215 West University Avenue, Hammond, LA 70401
, (985) 542-1588

We love their blueberry cake donuts, and their Breakfast-in-a-bowl! A Hammond favorite.

For all the days along the way
