Where it all began

The history class that started it all

Emily will tell you this all began in 2006, but for Ben, it started long before. Ben had a crush on Emily in Hebrew school (we went to the same temple) but his chance came later, when fate sat Emily and Ben next to one another in their Freshman history class. They began a high school relationship filled with guitar hero, Red Sox games and mini golf for four short months. To Ben's dismay, Emily broke things off that summer. However, their friendship did not end there and they would get together once or twice a year to catch up over pizza or a movie and just talk about life.

Where it all began again... 10 years later

February 2016

When they graduated college, Emily moved to Philadelphia and Ben was the first to go visit her to explore the city. Their love of music, comic books, and reading helped reignite the long burning embers of love. Soon after, they tentatively began dating seriously, not wanting to ruin their long standing friendship, but unable to remain 'just friends'. Just six short months later, weary of the distance between Natick and Philly, Ben moved to be with Emily in the city of brotherly love. Four years of love, laughter, and nerdiness later, and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Emjamin's I do's

There were so many times when Ben wanted to propose. He'd had the ring for a few months and was going to plan a surprise trip to Vermont and propose on an ice rink as they both love to skate. Ben's Mom was to hide and take pictures when he popped the question on the ice. But, it was a pleasant October, and he just couldn't wait any longer. So, one weekend when packing for Pennsylvania to celebrate their friend's nuptials, Ben plucked the ring from his secret hiding spot. It was prime leaf peeping season in a lovely wooded lake and Ben found a trail in the woods next to the venue. The day after the wedding, they took a walk and in an autumn drizzle, Emily agreed to be wed to Benjamin. Neither of them really remember what was said, except that Emily said yes and that they were both crying at some point. The car ride home was filled with exciting calls and texts, followed by a lunch at their favorite deli, Rein's deli. Sealed with pickles and potato salad, their engagement was official! They are so excited to explore the rest of their lives with one another and can't wait to celebrate with everyone for this exciting new beginning. If you're still reading this, now you know some more details of our story, and we give you credit for enduring our gushiness. Be prepared for more at the wedding!
