Chiesa del Carmine is only a 20 minute drive from Lake Trasimeno, which offers an array of water activities: sailing, kayak rental, boat tours, windsurfing, and water-skiing. For more adventurous types, there are ATV rentals. Rental bikes are available at the Acqua Dolce Sailing Center, where you can ride on the bicycle path around the lake. Additionally, there are nine public beaches on the islands or around the lake where you can sunbathe or swim. You can also visit the three islands on the lake, Isola Minore, Isola Maggiore and Isola Polvese. These can be reached by ferry from several towns around the lake. Or you can just enjoy wandering in the national parks surrounding the lakes, discovering the local flora and fauna
There are a number of cooking classes for individuals or groups offered in Perugia and the surrounding towns. Check back soon for some recommendations!
The Antognolla Golf Course is set amidst the 600 hectare Antognolla estate in the heart of Umbria, a 5 minute drive from Chiesa del Carmine. One of the most spectacular and challenging golf courses in Italy, the eighteen-holes at Antognolla feature long, cliff-lined fairways, beautiful water hazards and large, undulating greens.
The capital of the province of Umbria, this ancient city has more than a few interesting things to do and see. Perugia is a mere 25 minute drive by car from the Carmine Estate. From museums such as the National Gallery of Umbria and National Archeological Museum, archeological sites such as the Volumni Hypogeum and the Pozzo Etrusco, as well as an aqueduct, there’s no shortage of cultural sites to explore. For those with a sweet tooth, there’s also the Perugina Chocolate Factory and Museum. There are also dozens of restaurants, cafes, and – most importantly – gelato!
Umbria holds countless medieval hilltop towns, but for aficionados of historic stone streets, stone walls, stone archways and stone steps, some of the best known are Orvieto, Gubbio, Spoleto, Bevagna, Foligno, Montone, Todi, and Montefalco. All are within a short drive of Chiesa del Carmine and would make excellent short excursions or day trips.
There are several walking/hiking trails on the Carmine Estate. The trails vary in length and range from leisurely strolls through the olive groves and vineyards, to more demanding walks up and down hills. Guided walks of the nearby area can be arranged. Bikes can also be provided, just let us know!
Discover the authentic taste of Umbria on a truffle hunt in the beautiful hills in the valley of Chiesa del Carmine . After the truffle hunt, you will return to the Chiesa del Carmine winery where you will be served a truffle degustation or truffle degustation lunch. These meals include a selection of truffle inspired dishes matched by our sommelier to the Carmine Estate wines.
