The Fort Worth Stockyards offer an authentic Texas experience with live rodeo events, historic cattle drives, shopping, and diverse entertainment, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of the Old West.
Definitely check this out if you have the time, tons of delicious over-the-top fair food and fun!
The Arboretum is a very well-cared-for garden with lots of walking paths and a peaceful environment. We like to take tea breaks or stop for a light lunch whenever we visit.
Texas is pretty well known for its barbecue, here are some of our recommendations: Cattleack BBQ: Michelin-recommended, consistently top 10 BBQ in Texas. Note that they are lunch only, and only open Wed/Thurs/Fri! The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque: Our other favorite in DFW, their moist brisket and unlimited dessert are a big highlight.
There are tons of great food options, breweries, shopping, and museums to explore in the DFW area. Some notable mentions are: SomiSomi (Carrollton, TX) - The best and smoothest ice cream we've had. The matcha is our favorite! Mr. Max Izakaya (Irving, TX) - A real izakaya experience. We love the wasabi octopus and beef bowl! Historic Downtown Grapevine - A main street with cute shops, a European-style food hall, vintage railroad, and more! Southlake Town Square - A modern shopping square.
This area has lots of restaurants and stores to check out, but we particularly enjoy the lake! There’s paddleboarding, gondolas, and paddle boats available for exploring the lake. If water isn’t your thing, there are plenty of paved paths to walk on as well as the nearby Campion Trail.
