In 2012, Emily went with a group to visit Mozambique. While in Pemba they went to Iris Ministries base where Benny worked. The two of them actually met an outing to the beach. Emily fell in love with the country of Mozambique, especially Pemba and the people who live there. She felt at home there and returned for a semester of Harvest School at the Iris base where she saw Benny again and their friendship grew. Every chance she got, mostly during summer or winter breaks from school Emily returned to the place she loves so much. Their friendship eventually grew into romance and they began dating in 2014.

While we would love to see everyone in Mozambique, we understand that this is not a possibility for most. We will be holding an additional reception in California in a year or two when Benny finally makes it to the United States. We will keep you updated and send out additional information when the time comes.
