FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our dress code is Black Tie Optional. Men can wear black tuxedos or dark suits. Women can wear evening gowns or elevated cocktail gowns. When choosing footwear, please note that the courtyard is fully paved, so grass will not be a concern. Guests will be fully seated for the ceremony and dinner, but there will be limited seating during the cocktail hour. The courtyard is open to the elements, although some areas are partially shaded, so feel free to bring sunglasses if needed.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

Weather in Charleston in early May is typically pleasant, warm, and sunny. Expect daytime highs in the 70s to low 80s. Nights can still get slightly chilly during this time of year, although we will be inside for dinner before the sun goes down. The courtyard is open but slightly shaded in some areas, so we’ll be mostly exposed to the sun during our ceremony and cocktail hour.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

Although we’ll have our fingers crossed for sunny skies, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans! We will have an option to set up a tent in the courtyard in case the forecast calls for rain that week, and also the option to move the ceremony inside to the Garden Room if any inclement weather suddenly appears. Either way, we will make sure our guests stay dry and comfortable!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 4:30pm. Please try to arrive 5-10 minutes before the ceremony starts to get settled.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! Please see the travel page on our website for recommendations.

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests?

Answer

We did not block out rooms, so feel free to book a room where you feel most comfortable.

Question

Will there be alcohol?

Answer

Yes, we will have an open bar for all of our guests to enjoy complimentary drinks throughout the event.

Question

Will there be food?

Answer

Of course! Our wedding will be catered by Peninsula Grill, one of Charleston’s finest restaurants, so come hungry and prepare to leave stuffed. Hors d’oeuvres will be served during our cocktail hour, and following that we’ll take our seats for a formal 3-course dinner. Land, sea, and garden options will be available throughout the evening, so we’re hoping there’s something for everyone. Guests will also be able to make their own selections at dinner for each course from our pre-selected options, but please note that the menu will be more limited than the typical dining experience at Peninsula Grill.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, we are happy to accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions! Please ensure you let us know in advance so we can work with our team to make any accommodations.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Please see the schedule page on our website for the list of events. Since this is an intimate affair, we aren’t having a traditional reception with a band and dancing, just our formal seated dinner. However, we will likely go out to some fun bars nearby after dinner to keep the party going!

Question

How should I RSVP?

Answer

To RSVP, go to the RSVP page on this website, or call/text Emily directly at 843-224-3669. Please submit your RSVP by April 5th so we can plan accordingly!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking in downtown Charleston can be hard to come by, so we encourage guests to carpool or use ridesharing services instead to avoid the hassle. Please note that valet parking at Planters Inn is limited to guests staying at the hotel.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request that guests do not take photos during the event. We have professional photographers to capture every moment so we can unplug and enjoy!

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Yes, we have a wedding registry! You can find all the details on the Registry page of our website.

Question

I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you?

Answer

For any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or text Emily directly at 843-224-3669.
