Adam and Emily first met in Mrs. Isabel's ninth grade Spanish class. Emily was trying to learn Spanish, while Adam loudly interjected (usually in English) at every opportunity. By the end of senior year, Emily asked Adam to what she thought was a cool, unique first date - laser tag. As many of you who know Adam are aware, he is not a passive competitor in any setting. Instead of trying to make a good first impression and letting Emily score some points, Adam dominated the score board, beating the dozen or so small children there for a birthday party. After graduation, Adam went to Kalamazoo College to play baseball and Emily headed to Michigan State. Too many Amtrak trips and drives on I-94 (and baseball games...) happened in those four years to count. Following college, they both moved to Chicago to start their next steps in their careers and education. From there, they managed (and tried to do so gracefully) a challenging, but also insightful long-distance dynamic while Emily worked in Washington, D.C. and Adam was in Detroit. In 2019, Adam and Emily decided to make the big jump and move to New York together for work. Three years, three apartments, four jobs, one roommate (hi Alex!), and one dog later, they're feeling like New York is home. One evening in September 2021, Adam (after first lying about fake plans for dinner with friends) surprised Emily with a beautiful sunset proposal with the city skyline shining in the background. With the help of their dog, Moose, Emily said yes and the rest is the reason why you're reading this. We're so excited to celebrate with all of you and cannot wait until the big day!
