Information for Family and Friends staying with us at Shaker Village

Hello Family & Friends! Thank you all for being an extra special part of our big day! The wedding is coming up in less than a month and I wanted to give you some information that might be helpful in planning. Please read over everything on the page and let me know if you have any questions. Shaker Village If you’ve never been to Shaker Village, keep in mind that there are a few main parking lots but then you walk on mostly gravel/some paved walk ways to get places inside the village itself. You will be walking on gravel from the building where the rooms and rehearsal will be to the rehearsal dinner building. Be sure to have shoes that walk well on gravel and warm clothing in case it’s cold. And an umbrella/rain coat if raining/snowing. Maybe even boots if there’s a lot of snow. There is a Walmart/Walgreens and some food places a few miles from Shaker Village but not exactly next door since the village is in the middle of nowhere.

Friday This information is for everyone that expressed an interest in spending time with us on the night of Friday, January 18 and those that are in the wedding. If you are no longer staying overnight on Friday, let me know. I have rooms reserved for all of you but they are free to cancel if I do so 3 days before check in so please let me know if anything changes. Check in at the Inn starts at 3:00. We will be there at that time to check everyone in so there is no need to be there at exactly 3:00. We will be decorating from 4-6 so text me or Adam once you arrive and we can tell you where we are and can give you the key to your room. Ceremony Rehearsal For those of you in the wedding, we will have a rehearsal at 6:00 in the West Family Wash House. Rehearsal Dinner Dinner starts at 7:00 in the Trustee’s Office for all of us. If you’d like to meet us in the West Family Wash House, we can all walk down together. We will be there rehearsing starting at 6:00. We will be treated to a Taco Bar! Menu is below. Dress is casual. Rehearsal Dinner Menu – Taco Bar! • Ground beef and shredded chicken • Warm flour tortillas • Shredded cheddar, queso fresco, crunchy dressed slaw, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, pickled red onions, avocado crema, pico de gallo, fresh lime wedges, fresh sliced jalapenos, hot sauce • White warm queso, fresh tomato salsa, green tomatillo salsa, tortilla chips • Black bean and corn salad • Alcoholic and Nonalcoholic beverages • Mini sweets

Wedding Day Breakfast

Casual
There is a main fridge in the West Family Dwelling, which is where most will be staying. I will have bottled waters and some snacks provided for our overnight stay. Breakfast is served daily in the Trustee's Office. It is a buffet. It’s about $10 a person and a reservation is highly recommended. I wasn’t sure if everyone is interested in meeting up for breakfast before the wedding so I will leave this to everyone to do on their own. I will bring some muffins, cinnamon buns, granola bars, fruit, milk & juice to leave in the West Family Dwelling for breakfast in case you don’t have time or don’t want to venture out into the village for the buffet. If you will not be staying on Saturday night, check out on Saturday is at 11am. I will have a point person to collect the keys and turn them in for everyone and a designated meeting time and place.

Wedding The wedding starts at 12:00. We will get with the members of the wedding party to plan prep times and all that jazz so more will come to those folks. There is not a dress code for the wedding. We want everyone to be comfortable. I did ask our photographer to take pictures of families while we had her. She is absolutely wonderful. If you’d like a good professional photo, dress for that. Let me know if you’d like a photo taken and I will give her a list. She takes beautiful outdoor pictures. If you have decided to stay with us on Saturday night, I extended your Friday reservation to check out on Sunday. Check out is at 11am. If you’re interested in eating breakfast with Adam and Emily on Sunday morning, let us know. We plan to eat around 9am but will need to make a reservation for breakfast.
