We met at a mutual friend's house party. We both were introduced to each other but didn't think much of it. Melissa's friends were encouraging her to try to talk to Emilio but she was not interested at the time. As time moved on, Melissa and Emilio started to cross path's more than usual. They started to develop a friendship which led into something more... DUN DUN DUN.. On June 20, 2007, Emilio finally asked Melissa to be his girlfriend underneath the stars at Gill Park. The rest was history!

On September 4, 2019, Emilio asked Melissa to go to the beach in Carlsbad, CA. Melissa was hesitant to go because she was studying for her board exam. She was dragging her feet all the way from the car to the beach. Melissa thought, "Ok if this is what will make him happy, I'll do it." Emilio wanted to take photos once they were at the beach. Little did Melissa know, Emilio kept patting his pants to make sure the ring was still there. As they were both posing for the camera, Emilio went down on one knee and said a speech about how cool Melissa was. The entire time Melissa would not let go of Emilio's face because she didn't want him to see her cry. Afterwards, she said "Yes!"
