About the Bride and Groom

Question

About the Bride and Groom

Answer

Rylee and Em met the old-fashioned way, at least for teenagers in Iowa City: by having Rylee spill 64-ounces of rum and coke all over their feet while at a house party on South Johnson street. Somehow, Em overlooked this inauspicious start, despite it divulging his innate male clumsiness and propensity to lose composure around a beautiful woman. 6.5 months later, they moved in together, partially so Em’s roommates could get him to pay rent if he was going to be around so much anyway. Since then, Iowa City and Richmond have both been their homes, with a motley assortment of friends and memories made on both ends of the 1000 mile journey. They have travelled to three continents together (okay, just one country in each, but it still counts), sharing a love for drawn out adventure and a daily routine devoid of responsibilities. Memorable moments include hiking the Andes, riding mopeds on lush Thai islands, and eating sandwiches on the banks of the Seine. It was on one such adventure that Rylee proposed to Em, on a beach adrift on coastal Thailand. After 6 years, as the sun was setting and the lonesome coast nestled them into their own idyllic world for a moment, he asked the question. She was in disbelief then, which is understandable considering he had always carried ambivalent feelings about marriage. Hopefully, with these words, that disbelief is vanquished once and for all as we set for a day that they now both dream of. See you soon!
