In high school, Emilie completed a community service project that raised awareness for adolescent depression and suicide. By doing so, she hosted a spaghetti dinner and open mic night at the restaurant, Something Different. Little did Emilie know that her future husband would be walking through that door to play the guitar and sing some songs. As the night came to a close, Emilie asked Ricky if he wanted to go get ice cream after cleaning up. Luckily he agreed. Emilie and Ricky went to the same high school, but rolled with different crowds. They knew of each other, but weren't really friends, up until that night at Something Different. After their ice cream run, they sat and talked for hours until it was time to take Emilie home. Ricky got out of the truck, came around to Emilie's side of the vehicle, and walked her to the door. He was a true gentleman, something you don't come across much anymore. Ever since that night, they have grown up together through the years, lasted a long distance relationship through college, bought a house, and welcomed 3 kitties into their home: Butters, Titos, and Draco. Their strong bond and love for one another continues to grow.
After Emilie graduated college, her and Ricky decided to start searching for a house to buy. They searched for a few days and found a nice little place in Gloucester. They put an offer down, but someone else had a better offer. Within the next week, they came across a place in Topping, put an offer down, and within a month, closed on their first home. They have been living together for almost two years now.
Emilie and Ricky adopted their first cat, Butters, on 01/10/2020. Butters stayed with Ricky while Emilie was at college and of course they developed a bond. Shortly after Emilie and Ricky moved into their house, they adopted their second cat, Titos (Little Kitty). This became Emilie's cat since Butters had a favorite. The last furball, Draco, was adopted on July 8, 2021 after he was rescued as a 4 week old kitten. All three animals complete the love of the future Walton family.
After 5 1/2 years together, Ricky decided to finally propose to Emilie a few days before Halloween in the comfort of their own home. Emilie and Ricky kept the secret from family and friends for a few days before announcing to everyone at Emilie's parents house and at their annual Halloween party. They announced the engagement by painting a pumpkin that said, "She said yes!"
