We met at an end of season party for John's corn hole league. Our mutual friend, Liz Croom, introduced us (and now she's a bridesmaid!). John knew instantly, but Emilie took a little more convincing. We spent a lot of time together - but in group settings, just as friends. In June we were supposed to go see a movie with Liz, but she cancelled last minute (very suspicious). We decided to still go, and accidentally had our first date. We've been together ever since!

We went to Barcelona with another couple for a long weekend, then we continued our trip alone to the Canary Islands. A few days into our trip in Tenerife, John planned a special night out, starting with drinks on a terrace overlooking the ocean at sunset. As the sun was setting, he got down on one knee and presented Emilie with his grandmother's ring. After she got over the shock, she screamed "yes, yes, YES!" and we were engaged! The rest of the night was filled with champagne, high-kicks, and lots of face-times with our family and friends. We're so excited to celebrate with you all in NYC!
