March 30th, 2018 Jeremiah and I met when I was home for Easter break spring of 2018 during my freshman year at Baylor. At the Good Friday service hosted by Christian fellowship, our moms introduced us to each other. We talked for probably a total of 1 minute, but I guess that was enough to spark something. After I left, my roommate, and now maid of honor, Emma told me that I was going to marry Jeremiah. I was never the dating type, nor did I really care to get married at any point in my life at that time, so I told her “probably not.” Now I realize, that she was right and it was probably God speaking through her! Jeremiah also told his mom after we met briefly that if there was a girl like me in Michigan (where he went to school at the time) he would be interested. Sherry took note of that for sure. July 19th, 2018 Fast forward a few months, and I was headed up to Traverse City, Michigan for a horse show and coincidentally Jeremiah lived there. Sherry thought it would be a great idea if my mom and I brought him a care package. We then met Jeremiah for ice cream and gave him that care package. Jeremiah and I ended up talking for a few hours while eating ice cream, and Carol was just along for the ride. August-December, 2018 Jeremiah kept reaching out to me the rest of the summer. He came home one weekend and we grabbed coffee at a coffee shop and talked for six hours. From August to December of 2018 we got to know each other over weekly facetimes that usually lasted anywhere from four to six hours. I think we really liked each other! Over winter break we started dating officially on December 18th. May 1st, 2021 Fast forward 2 1/2 years of long distance (Texas to Michigan), Jeremiah and I are now engaged and so excited to get married. We love our story and all the small details in it. We realize we owe our relationship to all the people who have supported us through this time. I am not shy to admit that mothers truly do know best. Emilie & Jeremiah
