Brad was in Spamalot the musical with Emilie's best friend Megan. Throughout their rehearsals, Megan told Emilie about her castmates, including this really cool guy named Brad. Emilie went to one of the performances of Spamalot, which is where she first saw Brad (and heard him sing). The two officially met when Emilie went with Megan to karaoke at the Tap-In Tavern. Brad and Megan even got Emilie to sing a song with them that night, which was a big feat! Brad and Emilie ran into each other at the Tap-In a few more times before Emilie finally asked Brad for his Snapchat, then Brad asked Emilie for her number, and then asked Emilie out for coffee (after getting strep throat and bailing on their first scheduled date).

Brad and Emilie made plans to go to Mass and then out to dinner to celebrate being together for 2 years. It was a rare February day that was actually nice enough to be outside. After mass, Brad asked Emilie if she wanted to go for a walk at Cottonwood Park before dinner. Emilie responded, "Maybe," and Brad said, "Great, let's go!" It was too warm for Emilie's winter jacket, but too cold for no coat, so Emilie asked Brad if she could wear his jacket. Brad quickly said no. Emilie didn't question it. Brad switched jackets and gave Emilie his jacket and grabbed a different one from his bedroom closet (after discreetly switching the ring from one coat pocket to another). The couple went for a walk and then, by Cottonwood Pond, Brad got down on one knee and asked Emilie to marry him!
