Our Story

#nearlynewport

Daniel and I grew up in the same town, attended the same youth group, and played in the High School marching band together. After spending a lot of time together, we decided to start dating. It was such a fun and sweet relationship. I still remember Daniel picking me up for my senior prom with a bouquet of daisies instead of a fancy corsage because he knew I preferred them. But as I transitioned to college life and he entered his senior year, we decided to part ways. It was sad but we never had a bad word to say about the other. We remained friendly and whenever we found ourselves in the same place, conversation, laughter, and some top-notch music sharing came way too easy! After any time spent together, I found myself with a little crush and remembered all the reasons I dated him back in HS! Even still, I never considered more than friendship to be part of our future and neither did he - but God had other plans! Fast forward to just a couple of months ago when, after an afternoon spent together with friends, my little crush just wouldn't go away! Apparently something "clicked" for him too! We started communicating on the regular, mostly about music at first but in no time, we were sharing our hearts, fears, and started dreaming and praying about the future. Neither one of us expected to find ourselves here but we are thrilled and completely overwhelmed by the love and support we have received from our friends and family! We are constantly praising and thanking God for His faithfulness and perfect timing in bringing us back together! We ask you to join us in praying over our life together! To God be the glory!!

The Proposal

#nearlynewport

After a book study/coffee date at Jennings Coffee on the morning of February 13th, 2021, we made our way downtown to Trinity Chapel for what I thought was a photoshoot with my best friend. However, Daniel had other plans and popped the question with a Spotify playlist filled with songs that are special to us and titled "Emilie, will you marry me?". I was completely surprised and while the moment is a bit of a blur in my memory, I do remember never hesitating to say YES! His sisters, Laura and Amy, and my best friend, Alexis, were all there taking pictures of the moment and did an engagement photoshoot with us immediately after! The celebration continued with a surprise engagement party with our family and friends. After the crazy of the day had settled, we spent our first evening together as an engaged couple by sharing a pizza and a movie in our sweats. :)
