Our Meeting

September 25, 2017

Her Side: Four years ago, a new hire was brought onto the job on the weekend shift. My first impression was that He was quiet, a bit shy, but a very hard worker and could always break the silence with a well-placed “dad joke”. Yes, it’s a well known taboo to NEVER date a coworker, but there was just something about him! After going on a few dates, things seemed to be going well and we seemed to hit it off! Shortly after, we became inseparable! Because it seemed we were always at work, He decided to take advantage of the opportunity and “officially” asked me to be his girlfriend while we were on a lunch break! After a few months of dating, we took our first road trip together. On that trip, I knew he was the person I wanted to build a life with, start a family with, and grow old with. His Side: I transferred shifts at work and while I was being introduced to my new shift, I saw Her sitting with a trainee going over the schedule. She immediately made her introduction and asked who I was. Our first “official introduction”! Shortly after, we exchanged numbers and were talking and texting all the time, and would even go to the Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot after work almost every night just to hang out. She invited me to go see the movie IT and I accepted. I knew she was special if I was going to see something with clowns. From that day forward I knew I wanted to start my life with her! And I got my wish! Our Side: After a year of dating, we decided it was time to move in together, and began the search for our very own apartment! The one we chose was small, but it was ours and the perfect place to start our journey. Shortly after settling in, we found out we were expecting a baby girl. Our 700 square foot apartment was just not going to be big enough. January 2019, we closed on a house and in May the same year, we had our daughter. September 25th, 2017, we started dating, and thought it fitting that on our four-year anniversary we tie the knot!

Her Side: Chris’ parents were watching our daughter. We had the night to ourselves- which if you’ve had children you know that’s rare! Out of all of the things we could’ve done, we decided to take a nap. Little did I know, Chris wasn’t sleeping. He was up trying to get dinner reservations and get everything ready for what was about to happen. I woke up from our nap to him telling me how much he wanted to do more and about our dinner. I was still waking up when he pulled out the box, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Mind you, I did not look cute. All the doubt I ever had (which wasn’t much) about how much he loved me went away. I asked him if he was serious. Once he nodded his head and said yes, I couldn’t stop smiling. The love of my life wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Of course I said yes! We went to our dinner reservations, curled up together on the couch with ice cream in our hands, and watched Harry Potter together. Just enjoying the night as a newly engaged couple, soaking in all of the amazing memories that we have made and thinking of all that the future has in store for us. His Side: It all started with my parents being able to watch our precious angel of a daughter! I had so much planned for the day. I was so nervous that whole day. It was mostly excitement to start our lives together! I had a photographer lined up to meet us at a sunflower field I had picked out. But I eventually learned that would soon fall through unfortunately. This was the mother of my daughter, the woman who has shown so much strength throughout our time together. But I knew I couldn’t wait to ask her to be mine. I decided to walk upstairs while she was sleeping to wake her up. I had to do it today even though my original plans did not go the way I wanted. I woke her up and got down on one knee and asked her to marry me! She was not expecting it and asked if I was serious and I said of course! I was so excited to start our lives together!
