We met when Kale was stationed in Pensacola after getting accepted into the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute. Kale asked me to a date at Casks and Flights, a local wine tasting room in downtown Pensacola. From there, we had a few more dates over the following weeks and grew closer with each date. After a few months, we discovered Kale received orders to Carrier Air Wing Three in Virginia Beach and would deploy on the USS Eisenhower later that year. Despite the realization we would have to do long-distance, we knew our love was worth pursuing. We are so excited to not only celebrate our wedding, but also be done with deployment!
The weekend after Kale got back from his 6 week detachment on the Eisenhower, Piper and I traveled up to Pennsylvania to spend the week with Kale and his family. Kale planned “dinner reservations” for us on Saturday night at the Omni Springs Resort in Bedford, PA. On the car ride to the resort, Kale told me he didn’t want me to get my hopes up about him proposing on the trip. I was bummed because I had a feeling he was proposing that night. If you know Kale, he is quite the jokester. He completely sold me on the story that he was not going to be proposing during the trip. He had a feeling I was expecting it, and he wanted me to be completely surprised. When we arrived at the resort, he began showing me around outside. We went over a bridge connecting to a gazebo area, and Kale whistled to his friends, Blake and Paige, who were hiding in the bushes with their camera. I was EXTREMELY caught off guard and shocked. Before I knew it, Kale was down on one knee holding my dream ring. I said yes of course! We are so excited to celebrate with you. See you in Nashville!
