Our story started with a little encouragement from our friends. Emilee was hanging out at a friend's apartment complex, which just so happened to be the same complex where Cristian's brother lived. At the time, Cristian, his brother, and a group of friends were spending the day at the pool. One of Emilee's friends spotted a cute guy and convinced the rest of the girls to head over to the pool. The guys were tossing a football around, and our brave friend asked if we could join. Before long, both groups were laughing, talking, and spending the afternoon together. By the end of the day, Cristian asked Emilee out, and the rest is history.

Cristian planned a special evening and made reservations at Old Pueblo Café and Pub—the very same place where we had our first date. After dinner, Emilee suggested taking a walk around nearby Tierra Verde Lake Park, just like we had done that night years before. Little did she know that was exactly what Cristian had been planning all along. When we arrived at the park, there was a couple sitting at a table with a speaker playing one of our favorite songs. As we walked farther down the path, Emilee noticed the dock was covered in rose petals—the same flowers Cristian has always given her. She thought it was such a sweet setup for someone else's date. As Cristian gently tried to lead her toward the dock, Emilee resisted, worried they were about to interrupt the other couple's romantic evening. It wasn't until she looked at Cristian and saw the expression on his face that everything clicked, and she realized the set up was actually for her. The dock, the song, the rose petals, and even the "couple" at the park had all been part of the plan. They were actually our friends, who helped set everything up and secretly captured the moment. A few happy tears later, Cristian got down on one knee and asked Emilee to marry him. Of course, she said yes!
