Evans and Emerson met the summer of 2017 when Evans came to Toccoa Falls to attend Journey Camp with Christ Community Church. Emerson was on staff at Journey and for this week of camp, she was assigned to be CCC's camp counselor for the week. As the group was arriving on Monday, Evans was the first one off the bus, leading the pack as always. Emerson ran to him and gave him the biggest hug in the world to welcome him to camp. Over the week of camp, Evans and Emerson got to know get other. After a year of being friends at The University of South Carolina and Evans accepting a job for the summer at the same camp, Emerson's two best friends (now bridesmaids) encouraged Emerson to make a trip up to camp to visit them for the week. This week was the start of Evans and Emerson's love story. They spent the whole week at camp together, carpooling back home and to the beach. The Lord's faithfulness was so sweet during this time and Evans and Emerson have seen His hand in their relationship ever since!
On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 Emerson woke up thinking that night she would be attending Evans's twin brother's birthday dinner at a new restaurant on the Riverwalk in Columbia, SC. Little did she know that there was no birthday dinner. Evans picked up her up after she had spent sometime with a sweet friend that had diverted her to get their nails done, and when they arrived to the "restaurant" on the Riverwalk, Evans stopped Emerson in her tracks and got down on one knee. Evans and Emerson had the best night celebrating with their families! Evans and Emerson can't wait to celebrate with you all on March 20, 2021!
