My friend Kristie insisted that I get a Bumble account - an online dating site. I did create an account but then would delete it and then start the process all over again. I later learned this was true for Jacob too. As he was getting ready to go away with his family on their annual Thanksgiving holiday vacation, we learned that Bumble had matched us together. We messaged, texted and talked to each other for a couple of weeks before we met in person. Just from those conversations I remember thinking this man is way to good to be true. I have to admit I was definitely intrigued. I was planning a family gathering at my house. I decided to take a chance to see if he was really interested and invited him. The plan was to hang out and see where it goes. We instantly hit it off and decided to date. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. About a month into our relationship I remember telling him I would marry him one day. I learned that this wonderful man felt the same way too. I knew right then that the hunt was over. To this day looking back, we still get all the feelings because we thought that all of this was too good to be true. I LOVE our story- who would have ever thought online dating could bring us together?
Remember that annual Thanksgiving family trip? Well, it happens to take place at the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World! One year later I found myself attending with him. But it wasn't with just Jacob's parents and sister's family, but his grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins and little did I know that Jacob had planned to propose during this trip. He decided the best location would be in front of the huge Christmas tree in the Fort Wilderness campground, but to his dismay, that area was under construction and the tree wasn't there. That's when "Plan B" began to take shape. His two year old niece, Holly, wanted to ride the ponies that were stabled near the campground entrance. We had lots of fun watching her ride and took lots of pictures. While we were waiting for her to finish Jacob mentioned that his family always takes an annual picture somewhere in the campground. They eventually decided to take the picture in front of the Fort Wilderness entrance sign. My SUV was parked near by so we all piled in and off we went. We all stood in front of the sign and took the family picture. Then someone said “Ok, Emma and Jay are up first for individual pictures”. They all took several pictures of us and as I began to walk away, I heard someone say “Wait! One more picture!” As I turned around, I saw Jacob down on one knee holding a beautiful diamond ring! It happened so fast that my head was swirling! I couldn't believe that this was actually happening! Then Jacob asked, “Will you be my wife?” and of course I said YES! It was so magical and a dream come true!
