Emelyn and Michael first met back in 2015 but never really spoke to each other. Michael was close to Emelyn’s cousin, Brittany, so they would briefly see each other at family parties. Emelyn and Michael even attended the same college but almost never saw each other on campus. It was not until 2021 when Michael reached out to Emelyn to take her on a date. Their first date was kind of awkward with moments of silence that went far too long. However, they did end up going on a second date. This is where they both got comfortable with each other and neither of them wanted the date to end. They went to American Dream mall, then to get tacos in Passaic, then to Gamestop, then to Applebee’s, then Walmart, and finally just showed each other funny youtube videos in the parking lot. After their second date, they saw each other almost every week after that. After all those years of never having a full conversation with each other, they realized how much in common they had from their love of video games, anime, trying new foods, beer and cider, and so much more. Their first “I love you” happened on their first trip together 2 months after their relationship started. They knew early on that they were meant to be with each other. From traveling the world, to Emelyn watching Michael race (even the near 3 hour races where she sees him only two-three times), to moving in together, to having two stinky cats, they have gone through it all. And now they are ready to take the next step in their relationship.
