Emely: When I moved to Crescent, Haylee and I instantly became besties. I would tag along to her family events & Chase was always there given he is her older cousin. I instantly had a crush on him but he never noticed me! So I kept my crush to myself until high school. Chase & I had art class together & he sat RIGHT.NEXT.TO.ME. Not by choice, we had assigned seats... Chase is that type of person that can talk to anybody; thank goodness because I was so awkward. I finished just about every project for him & we got really close. Whether it be from my amazing personality or him talking to me just to pass, we will never know. We even got “married” as joke & he got me a fake ring. That next week he got a girlfriend...it wasn’t me. I was crushed. I didn’t want the hassle of the divorce so I kept the ring & we’d occasionally joke about it, but we weren’t as close. It wasn’t until New Years that Chase talked to me again. We were at Haylees house watching movies and all the sudden Chase came & sat RIGHT.NEXT.TO.ME. This time by choice. He was my first New Year’s kiss. We dated over the next couple of months until he ended it towards the end of the school year. I was heartbroken. That summer I moved to GA. Shortly after my move Chase texted me out of the blue and we talked everyday. He was my best friend, so it was natural to talk to him about anything & everything. My first year of college Chase wanted more than just a friendship. Except, I wasn’t going to give him the time of day. I had learned my lesson & I wasn’t looking for another heartbreak. But he wasn’t giving up that easy. He called me everyday for a year until family vacation. Since Haylee is my second family I tagged along. As soon as I saw Chase, I cracked. It's hard to deny him when he’s that cute. I tried giving myself a 1 on 1 talk before vacation how I wasn’t going to get back with him. You see how that worked out. Looking back I kick myself for being so stubborn & waiting so long to be happy!
Chase: I knew I wanted to propose to Emelia a year ago! People constantly kept asking me when I was going to wise up and pop the question. I wanted the moment to be perfect and I wanted her father, Louie, to be there. Louie and Tiffany planned a trip to come visit us in October of last year. A month before their arrival, I went to pick out her ring. To insure Emelia didn’t catch on to what was going on, I planned to ask during one of the events she had planned already. Two nights before I decided when I would ask, I talked to Louie and asked would it be okay with him if I asked Emelia to marry me? He was taken back. Thought about the question for awhile and then asked me if I was sure you want to do that? We laughed and I told him the plan on what I had in mind. The next evening was my cousins wedding. Emelia caught the bouquet that night and everybody had a shocked look on their face because unlike her, they all knew what was coming the next night. I went to work that day and she hung out with Louie and Tiffany. They all went out to eat lunch and had margarita. Ems was drunk. I thought that was Louie’s way of sabotaging my big night. When I got home from work, everyone was passed out in the living room. It took almost two hours to wake everybody up! I knew we had to hurry to make it by sunset. Emelia finally awoke, threw some clothes on and threw her hair up.. I tried telling her to fix her hair but she didn’t listen to me. Yes, she is still upset I “didn’t” make her fix her hair. We finally arrived at Red Rock where our family was waiting for us. As we waited for the table, Callie suggested we take pictures at the lighthouse on the water. It’s a good thing Emely is clueless. She did’t think anything of the big party of ten following us to take pictures with a big, fancy camera. As we were taking pictures, I got on one knee and asked her to marry me. It was one of the best days of my life so far!
