We met in 2006 while I was living in Florida and Zed was in Kansas. We were introduced over the phone by a mutual friend, and before long we were having lengthy phone calls filled with deep conversations. Then, we decided to connect in person when the stars aligned and presented us with a window of opportunity. I would be back in Wichita to visit my family for a few days, but Zed would be leaving for boot camp shortly after I arrived. We had ONE day. We spent part of the day together, and then met up for a night of Karaoke. (Something we still enjoy doing with our friends today). The next day, Zed was gone. We wrote letters back and forth for a while. Before long Zed was deployed for the first time, and the letters stopped. We did reconnect briefly through social media every couple of years or so after that, but we went on to lead our separate lives. Until 2015, that is. Zed found me on Facebook and reached out. It didn't take long before we were having those lengthy phone calls again as we had done back in 2006. Only now we had new perspectives and stories to share, and life was so much different for both of us. Eventually we decided it was time to see each other again for the first time since our Karaoke night nine years prior. Zed drove to Miami to make it happen. The connection was pretty instantaneous. While so much time had passed, in some ways it seemed as though not a moment had. We discovered we had both kept the letters and photos we had received from each other while Zed was in the army all of those years ago. Then, I got to meet Dellan, Zed's son. He was pure magic and before I knew it he had become my whole world. We were all in. Fast forward 10 years later and here we are. We're getting married! Zed, Dellan, and I are so excited to officially become a family and share the day with those we treasure most in the world. Thank you for being part of our story.
