Some love stories begin with a grand plan. Ours began with a football tailgate. We first met by chance at a K-State football game. Emma walked up to a random RV and before we even had the chance to really meet, Gage's friends were already convinced we belonged together. They spent the afternoon telling Emma that Gage was a millionaire, owned the RV, and was the greatest guy she would ever meet. Looking back, they may have exaggerated a few details—but they were right about one thing. The timing just wasn't right yet. A few months later, our paths crossed again in an unexpected way. After seeing mutual friends and photos that included Gage, Emma asked a fellow nurse how she knew him. Emma's coworker immediately told Emma that she was exactly Gage's type and insisted on letting him know she was single, even though Emma told her not to. Thankfully, she didn't listen. Not long after, Gage reached out. While Emma wasn't completely convinced at first, Gage knew something special was worth pursuing. He continued to show up with thoughtful gestures, letters left on her doorstep, and a determination that couldn't be ignored. He often told her that if he ever got the chance to be with her, he would never let her go. The man Gage's friends bragged about at that K-State tailgate turned out to be exactly who they said he was, and the woman who wasn't sure at first turned out to be everything he had been waiting for.
