In 2013, Sean and Elysha lived 7 blocks away from each other. Ran the same beach. Shopped at the same grocery stores. They even drove the same car. Little did they know, fate would step in one winter night when Elysha used the Lyft app to have a driver pick her up to head to a Christmas party. Her Lyft driver, Sean, arrived in his Ford Focus and she jumped in to immediately chime, "Nice car! I have the same one.." 20 minutes flew by as they chatted about living in San Jose and fanning over the SJ Sharks. When Sean pulled over to let Elysha out at her destination, she got out of the car, closed the door and immediately thought to herself, "Damn! I'm never going to see that guy again.." A month later, Elysha needed another Lyft ride to a birthday party across town. When the app dinged to alert her her driver was coming, a familiar face and name appeared on the screen. It was Sean! The two chatted like no time had passed. As Sean drove Elysha to her destination, she was eager to make sure this time he got her number.. A week later they went on their first date and have been inseparable ever since.

Due to Elysha's rigorous marathon training schedule, a weekend away to celebrate Sean & Elysha's birthdays was perfectly timed after she completed the SF Marathon. The weekend in Montecito would include whale watching, wine tasting and sun bathing. While on their drive down, Sean advised that they stop at his old job, Sea Landing - Whale Watching Tours, to pick up some motion-sickness medicine for Elysha. The clerk recommended that Elysha take one pill at night and one in the morning to guarantee the medicine was in her system. The next morning, Sean woke Elysha up with coffee and eagerly told her to get ready so they can head to the beach prior to whale watching. Slow and groggy to move, Elysha was perplexed why they had to get to the beach so early. But she throw some clothes on and headed out the door to Butterfly Beach. At Butterfly Beach, Sean advised that they walk out to the rocks at the end of the beach before they turn around. On their walk, Sean's fidgety nature started to annoy the groggy & drugged Elysha. But they kept walking until Sean pointed out a pile of rocks to walk over to and sit down at. Elysha wasn't paying attention when Sean pointed and bent over to say, "Oh look! A heart shaped rock!" Elysha turned to find Sean kneeling with a diamond ring in his hand. Elysha's first reaction was one he definitely didn't expect. She cried out, "Noooooooooo." Then asked in a state of shock, "What?! Shut up!" Sean kept kneeling confused and reasked, "Well, will you marry me?" Elysha crying and slow to respond, "Yes!" Then a few seconds later, "Wait! Did you ask my parents?!" Sean calmly replied, "Yes, I spoke to all of your family. Your mom, your dad..even Kayla and Dante."
