James Mullen of Warwick, NY and Elyse Gellert of Northport, NY are both born and bred music educators in the wonderful Mamaroneck School District in Mamaroneck, NY. Nine years ago, they were introduced (thanks, Andy!) when Elyse was given a tour of the school district after accepting her current position as High School Orchestra director. Jim's first impression, which he loves to reenact, was that Elyse had "quite the strong handshake" (a very important skill learned from her parents) which she agrees was the best way to start things off. Since then, Elyse and Jim have established quite a history of countless musical performances together, traveling around the country in search of the best burgers and steak tartare, attending many concerts and Broadway shows, movie nights upon movie nights, spontaneous trips to Chinatown, Yankee games, sets at The Village Vanguard and The Jazz Forum, Gellert and Mullen family excursions, celebrations and holidays, enjoying life with their wonderful friends in the music department and as loving parents to their dog, Stella. As they continue to live in Westchester, Jim and Elyse enjoy escaping to the many beautiful parks and bike paths along the Hudson River, which overlooks Rockland County (special familial ties for both bride and groom). It only seemed fitting to include the Hudson River as a backdrop to this momentous occasion as it has served as a frequent destination and represents everything they love; pollution. Just kidding. Elyse and Jim come from two incredibly loving, supportive and musical families and feel grateful for their amazing friends and colleagues for being a part of their lives. Recognizing the many lessons that this last year has taught, they know the importance of truly celebrating life and the love that they have had for one another since day one. And that's all that matters.
