Welcome to America's first National Park! Located just 2 hours from the Sacajawea Hotel, Yellowstone National Park is an easy drive to enter an entirely different world.
Within the boundaries of this scenic park, the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin rivers merge to form the 2,300 mile Missouri River. The Headwaters State Park is a hiking/bicycling park with interpretive trails and vistas that commemorate Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery Encampment in 1805. It was later the site of Fort Three Forks, established by the Missouri Fur Company in April of 1810. The park contains picnic areas and river access for boating and fishing.
The Lewis and Clark Caverns feature one of the largest known limestone caverns in the Northwest. The two-mile cave trail winds its way through spectacular underground rooms lined with stalagmites, stalactites, columns and helictites, and are naturally air-conditioned and lighted for safe and enjoyable visits open May 1 through September 30.
We might have done it, just the way the schedules worked out. Our wedding is the same weekend as MT Country Jam Festival (which is about 20 minutes outside of Three Forks). If you are looking for some super country, cowboy, white trash drink festival with some music on top- this is for you. Overall, it is a fun festival.

This cliff was one of the larger Indian pishkun of buffalo jumps used to secure buffalo meat on a mass scale, before they had the horse for hunting. The buffalo stampeded over such cliffs and were either killed outright or maimed so that they could be safely killed by Indians on foot. The Madison Buffalo Jump has attracted the attention of the nation's foremost archaeologists, and is located 12 miles from Three Forks. Take the Logan exit off I-90, then go 7 miles south on Buffalo Jump Road.

The Boiling River is created where a large hot spring enters the Gardner River, allowing the hot and cool waters to mix into a temperature comfortable enough to bathe in. The natural hot tub makes a great place to stop and relax while soaking in the warm water and soaking up the natural beauty of Yellowstone.

66 major exhibits with dozens of smaller items give you a feel for the kinds of equipment that were used in mining from the 1860s to the 1970s. A faithful re-creation of an 1890s mining town, with 15 intact historic structures and approximately 35 buildings constructed from old materials by the many volunteers who put the museum together from the mid-1960s to the 1980s. (The honorable Judge Kurt Krueger, also father of the bride, laid the brick for the streets as his Eagle Scout Project).
