It’s quite hard to pinpoint exactly where it all began. All we know is that God had a plan for both of us that we hadn’t discovered yet. We met at church soon after I moved to Nashville from Ethiopia in 2014. I never showed a serious interest in exploring a relationship until much much later. Although not expressed, I always dreamt of a future that seemed so farfetched. Fast-forward three years and I asked her to go to my high school banquet, which sparked several occasions of our friends teasing. A real relationship was still out of reach. As both of us have learned throughout the years, God has a brilliant way of working things out at the perfect time. Right in the middle of my senior year of college, those feelings never expressed finally found their way into a conversation. We uncovered a lot of what led up to that day, and also tried to answer the big question in front of our mind. Do we dare to step in and possibly find what we’ve been looking for? We both agreed to continue talking and get to know each other with a specific goal. As we continued, all the thoughts in the past started to become more real, finally allowing us to make the decision to start dating. After about three years we decided to make this a life-long journey. This is a story we believe has been authored by God, for us to experience and see His goodness in our life.
