I had planned for two couples’ photoshoots to be done back-to-back. One was at the Alaska State Fair, and the other at Hatchers Pass. I had a feeling he would propose eventually, since I knew he bought the ring late the year before. It was early on September 1st when we were on top of Hatchers Pass. The weather was freezing, and I was turning pink all over. Naturally, I had chosen the wrong clothes for such cold, windy, and rainy weather. Despite the challenges, we managed to work through everything. For one of the photos, I was instructed to stand on a rock platform with my back to them. The idea was to capture a moment where the man sneaks up on you, picks you up, and you’re all surprised. Well, I believed all of this and thought, “Oh, right, so I’m going to turn around when you say to so I don’t get scared and fall off the cliff.” So, in the wind and rain, I stood there waiting for my cue to turn around. About two minutes went by, and she said, “Okay, turn around.” So, I did just that. I saw Tyler down on one knee, smiling at me with the ring box open in his hands. My heart was racing, and my face was in total shock. I tried not to become teary-eyed, and once I could respond, I said, “Yes.” It was the best day of my life.
