Ronnie and I met for the first time during our freshman year of college on the University of Texas campus in the Malcolm X Lounge. It was a late-night after a party and no one was ready to go home. I walked into the X-Lounge and took a seat in front of Ronnie. After one of Ronnie's awful jokes, I swore to my roommate, Kaela, I would NEVER speak to Ronnie again. Fatefully, Ronnie and I saw more of each other on campus and began exercising and studying together regularly. We became great friends and began dating the following year.
On September 12, 2020, Ronnie told me he was taking me to a winery to enjoy the late summer weather and a beautiful Texas sunset. To my surprise, we arrived at a helicopter port where we went on a scenic helicopter tour of downtown Austin. We sat together laughing and reflecting on our memories together as we looked over the city where we shared so much of our lives. We flew over our church, our alma mater, and parks & restaurants where we've had dates. We descended into a large field surrounded by cars. I stepped out of the helicopter and was shocked to see all of my friends and family. I looked to my right and Ronnie walking towards me. He slowly got on one knee and proposed!
