We met online and chatted for about a week. Then she sent me a chat that said "here is my cell number, call me". I was like omg, what am I going to say when I call. We met face to face for the first time at Starbucks and we decided to continue see each other.

I decided to propose on her birthday because it was a special day that she would always remember. I bought the ring several weeks before and figured that if we celebrate her birthday with a cake and flowers she would have no clue. The plan was to not buy a gift so that when the gift topic came up then I would pop the question. The plan worked to perfection. She opened a gift from her friend and at that point I apologized for not purchasing a gift because...I then went to my knees and proposed. She was so shocked it took her about a full minute to say 'Yes'.
