Things to Do

We're well aware that there are a lot of breweries listed below, but hey, it's Milwaukee. There's plenty more to do, and here are some good places to get started.

Milwaukee Art Museum

700 North Art Museum Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 224-3200

Shaped like a seagull and holds a lot of art. We also got engaged here!

Milwaukee Public Market

Milwaukee Public Market

400 N Water St, Milwaukee, WI 53202

Can't decide what you want, but you know you might want beer, cheese, wine, chocolate, mediterranean food, coffee, spices, sushi, or seafood? This is the place for you.

Milwaukee Public Museum

800 West Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233
, (414) 278-2728

Want to see dinosaurs? Or walk through a recreation of what Milwaukee used to look like? Or just want to be around some butterflies? Visit the Milwaukee Public Museum!

Milwaukee County Zoo

10001 West Bluemound Road, Milwaukee, WI 53226
, (414) 771-3040

Much like other zoos, this one has plenty of animals to see. The only difference being that this one's in Milwaukee.

Discovery World

500 North Harbor Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 765-9966

A world of wonder at your finger tips! Or maybe not, I've never been. But it's a great activity for kids and families alike.

Milwaukee Riverwalk District

North Riverwalk Way, Milwaukee, WI 53202

Want to do something without actually doing anything? Milwaukee's RiverWalk follows the river through downtown with access to many different bars and restaurants along the way.

Bradford Beach

2400 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53211

Obviously, if you haven't come to Milwaukee for a wedding, you've come for the beautiful beaches and endless warm weather. This beach has everything from water to sand to a ton of volleyball courts.

Sobelmans on St. Paul

1900 W St Paul Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53233
, (414) 931-1919

There are several locations for this Milwaukee burger institution, but this is the original. You might know them from the time they lost to AJ Bombers on Food Wars, or you may have come to Milwaukee looking for a pitcher of Bloody Mary's topped with a whole fried chicken. Either way, this place is good for a burger, a bloody, and a beer.

Bavette La Boucherie

330 East Menomonee Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 273-3375

Gosh darn outstanding food here. Sandwiches, meat, pickled things, and jams galore.

Amilinda

315 East Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 369-3683

Excellent tapas. So excellent that I took Megan here after I proposed to her.

Milwaukee Brewing Company

613 South 2nd Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204
, (414) 226-2337

Excellent local brewery with fun souvenir glasses. They offer 2 hour tours with no drink limit (but buy tickets in advance)! They do not offer food.

Lakefront Brewery

Lakefront Brewery

1872 North Commerce Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212
, (414) 372-8800

Good brewery, excellent tour. With a tour you get 2 drink tickets and you can buy more. They also serve food, which includes what might be the best cheese curds in town.

Miller Brewery Tour

Miller Brewery Tour

4251 West State Street, Milwaukee, WI 53208
, (414) 931-3880

Plenty of better breweries in Milwaukee, but none have the popularity and history of Miller. Tour comes with 2 drink tickets for mediocre beer and a visit from a ghost.

Good City Brewing

Good City Brewing

2108 North Farwell Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 539-4173

Sit down brewpub with what might be the best scotch ale I've had (so get it if it's on tap). No tours, but very good food, good beer, and outdoor seating.

Black Husky Brewing

Black Husky Brewing

909 East Locust Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212
, (414) 509-8855

One of the better breweries in Milwaukee in spite of its size. Has outdoor seating, a food truck or stand, and is dog friendly.

Gathering Place Brewing Company

Gathering Place Brewing Company

811 East Vienna Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53212
, (414) 364-6328

This one's a little hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. One of the brewers is someone I used to work with, a Marquette trained economist with a full beard.

Broken Bat Brewing Co.

Broken Bat Brewing Co.

231 East Buffalo Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202
, (414) 316-9197

An honest-to-goodness Brewers bar with great beer brewed on site. Also, if you're a loud Cubs fan, this place affords you the opportunity to make a lot of people mad at you in a short amount of time!

City Lights Brewing Co.

2200 West Mount Vernon Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53233
, (414) 436-1011

They just remodeled, and they also have great beer. Great space for a party.

For all the days along the way
