YES! We purposely chose a holiday weekend so all guests would more easily be able to attend both ceremonies. We're excited to celebrate and share both of our cultures with all of our guests.
Nigerian weddings are very fun and vibrant! There's lots of color, food, dancing, and cultural traditions commemorating the wedding and the families of the bride and groom. Family & friends traditionally bring money ($1 bills) to "spray"/throw at the couple to show their love and support.
Nigerian food will be served at the ceremony, including dishes like jollof rice, fried plantains, pounded yam, and a variety of different meats. There will also be non-Nigerian options available, and all allergens will be clearly marked.
Dress code is traditional Nigerian attire or Western formal (suits and ties, dresses, skirts, and jumpsuits). The bride & groom, parents, and bridal & grooms parties will be in bright, colorful Nigerian clothing, so feel free to wear bright colors to match!
