How We Met

September 2013

We met at a high school football game. Will's best friend was dating one of my friends at the time and we all sat together to watch the football game. We got introduced and formed a small friend group. At a later football game, a girl that Will wasn't the biggest fan of, came up to us to talk so I put my arms around his neck from behind. She left and Will decided that he really liked having me around.

Our Spot - I love you

March 21st, 2018

After years of being friends and enduring each other dating other people, we finally started dating during college. I had just gotten back from Las Vegas with my family and best friend and Will had a night of leave from the Citadel so he asked me to come visit him in Charleston and we went on a date night in Folly Beach. We went to our now favorite restaurant, Rita's, and then took some blankets and sat on the beach that night. Freezing our butts off (It was March and the wind from the ocean was brutal), Will pulled me into his arms and whispered "I love you" in my ear. This date later became known as our anniversary since we could never agree on a date. Now we always go to Rita's and walk on Folly Beach when we visit Charleston.

The Proposal

May 27th, 2022

On a weekend trip back to Charleston with our friends, Will took me back to our spot on Folly Beach. We had plans to go to Rita's with some other friends but first we wanted to walk on the beach. We started walking on the beach at the pier and walked about a quarter of a mile down the beach (to which I was super confused as to why we were walking so far -- it was so my best friend could catch up to us on the beach) and we finally stopped. I leaned my head back to try to get a kiss on the forehead and he kneeled down behind me and tapped my back. I turned around to see him down on one knee, ring box open, just staring at me and not saying anything. I finally had to say "Well, are you going to ask me?" to which he finally asked "Will you marry me?" and I said "Of course." -- Then he turned me around so that I could see my best friend, Brooke, there waiting for me, surprising me, and taking photos. Best day ever.
