Back in 2015, we both decided to take jobs teaching English in Madrid, Spain. Little did we know, that is where we'd find our soulmate in each other. We were both moving to Spain solo, so we joined a Facebook group of the organization helping us and others find jobs as English teachers in Madrid. It was in this group where we and others decided to go to Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany in the fall. After an all-out rush to get inside the beer tent when it first opened, we found ourselves at the same table waiting for a German frau to bring us a liter of beer. It was at this table we struck up our first conversation and met many of our life-long friends. Upon returning to Madrid we remained friends but did not spend much time together. After a few months our friend groups started to merge, we started to spend more time together, and by April we were officially dating. To help cure a little bit of home-sickness our first date was at an American burger joint near our apartments. Our relationship grew as we traveled together all over Spain and Europe. It was truly a magical time. After 3 of the most amazing years, we decided to come back to America and find a home in Denver. After a couple of months of living and working at home to save money, we moved out to Denver in early 2019. Colorado has been great to us, we get to see family, friends, explore the mountains, and craft beer scene. After almost 2 years in Denver, Elliott decided to make things official and decided to propose to me. He planned a special day and night for us in downtown Denver. After meeting one of his childhood friends and his girlfriend for lunch we took a stroll while Elliott curiously asked where we could take a good picture together. I had my suspicions but still wasn't sure. We ended up at the Brown Palace and hotel where we had a room, in the lobby we got a picture in front of a decorated Christmas tree, it was there Elliott got on one knee and asked me to marry him and I of course said yes!
